Marketing and Program Development Lead

Position: Full Time Program Development Coordinator (Part-time flexibility)
BoysGrow: BoysGrow is a farming and mentorship program dedicated to supporting KC urban youth. The two year entrepreneurial program provides our young men, ages 14-17, a variety of experiences and opportunities through experiential learning. Founded in Kansas City in 2010, BoysGrow is now located on a 10 acre production farm that is worked and run by the program youth. Youth learn vocational skills centered around Construction, Agriculture and Culinary Arts. We promote and measure youth development through 10 core soft skills. Youth work the farm 3 days a week during the summer, and once a month (second Saturday) during the school-year.
Overview: The Program Development Coordinator (PDC) collaboratively oversees the administration of BoysGrow’s fundraising and outreach efforts through marketing, event coordination, and donor relations and brings new ideas to the table. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-driven individual with strong communication skills to support our growth and brand awareness in Kansas City. The PDC will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to drive expansion of the organization. As a BoysGrow team member, the PDC also works with program youth and is expected to assume a professional role as a leader and mentor within the organization.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Marketing & Communications (40%)
    • Generate and develop new ideas to increase donor engagement and reach new audiences
    • Implement 2-4 new marketing strategies within the first year
    • Social media management (weekly content creation and management across platforms)
      • Develop a plan to increase supporter engagement 
      • Create social media campaigns to promote BoysGrow’s mission and relevant ongoing projects
    • Generate marketing strategies for community outreach (volunteer and supporter opportunities)
    • Work closely with Program Director to develop program recruitment and retention strategies 
    • Develop and write monthly newsletters detailing organizational achievements, aspirations, and program/participant storytelling
    • Graphic Design skills (design graphics for social media, print materials and ads)
  • Events (20%)
    • Coordinate event logistics for 4-6 annual events (mainly Farm Fest and Date Nights; partnered with local chefs and restaurants) including external vendors and partners
    • Generate new ideas for events and fundraising opportunities including theme ideas, details, and marketing efforts
    • Generate collateral material for event promotion including written copy and graphics 
    • Collaborate with Executive Director to secure sponsors for the event (generating sponsor request written copy)
    • Track event information such as budget, ticket sales, donations on CRM system (Salesforce)
  •  Backend Non-profit management and Development (25%)
    • Directs bi-annual hard mail campaign (Summer and Winter) to encourage supporter engagement and donations 
    • Develop new and engaging concepts for end-of-year giving campaign
    • Update website as needed
    • CRM duties: Inputting donor information including donations, and updating contact information
  •  Direct Services (10%)
    • Work directly with youth as needed, ranges from supporting professional development workshops to general staff support 
    • Assist the youth Media Team in reviewing and posting their content to Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
  •  Misc (5%) 
    • Office Maintenance
    • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Technology Proficiencies
  • Strong proficiency in basic computer skills. Extensive Google Suites knowledge
  • CRM Database (Salesforce), Asana, Google Suites, Canva, Flodesk, Wordpress, Meta Ads

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-years experience working in nonprofit administration or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred.  We are flexible on what this looks like
    • Positive mindset with a passion for working with youth and a belief in the impact of positive relationships
    • Collaborative thinker capable of working in a team environment as well as undertaking individual projects
    • Valid Driver's License

Required Qualifications
  • Strong Written and reading comprehension skills
  • Strong Communication Skills (written and oral)
  • Attend all youth work days and work related events
  • Great Organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Open to new and various ideas and viewpoints
  • Leadership skills, the job often requires direct collaboration and management of program youth for certain fundraiser projects
  • Pass Background Check

Physical Demands
  • Frequently requires to stand, sit, bend, stoop or walk
  • Occasionally required to lift, push or carry 25 pounds.
